An obvious part of the release process is incrementing the version number of the software to be released. RERO attempts to be as abstract as possible in this area in order to give the most customization to users for how this step should be done. However, there is already specific support for "basic" GNU program release version numbering of the form: "X.Y.Z". In this case RERO will increment the Z portion of the version for the new release.
1.2.3 => 1.2.4
The new version is then stored for the release profile in the cache for future releases.
This step can be overridden on the command line with the `-r' or `--release' options See section 2.1 Options. In that case, the version specified on the command line is the new version to be used.
